PAWS of CNY Volunteers Star on WSYR’s Bridge Street
Check it out! A local law firm, Nave Law Group aka “Nave’s Neighbor’s” invited one of our volunteers to be on Channel 9’s Bridge Street show to spread some information about PAWS of CNY. Nave’s Neighbors is an organization that promotes local non-profit organizations monthly.
A hard-working member of our Board of Directors, Jay Peackock and his gentle giant of a Therapy Dog, Harley, were the superstars to join Channel 9 WSYR’s “Bridge Street.” They discussed what PAWS of CNY brings to the community including the work we do, where we go, and our need for volunteers following the COVID-19 pandemic🌟
Thank you Nave’s Neighbors & Channel 9’s Bridge Street for having us ! 😀

Hancock Airport’s Therapy Dog Team Seeks to Ease Travelers’ Stress
Syracuse, N.Y. — If you’re someone who gets stressed when flying the Syracuse airport has a program aimed at helping ease that stress.
The airport’s Pets Easing Travelers (PET) program brings specially-trained pet therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers to Hancock Airport three days a week to greet travelers.
The pet therapy dogs are certified by PAWS of CNY and have been extensively tested for temperament, noise tolerance and, most importantly, their willingness to be hugged by strangers.
PAWS of CNY currently have 7 to 8 teams that participate in the airport’s PET program.
Volunteer Jay Peacock said just seeing his dog Harley puts travelers at ease.
“People love him, there eyes light up when they see him. He loves people, There airport loves having us here. It’s a win-win,” he said.
For more information on how you can volunteer with PAWS of CNY or how you can train your dog to become an airport pet therapy dog, click here.
PAWS of CNY Volunteers Make the Cover of Syracuse Woman Magazine
How often can we say that PAWS of CNY volunteers are cover girls on November’s Syracuse Woman magazine?
The following story follows Therapy Dog, Moose, and her handler, Laura Hand, a retired reporter/anchor from CNY Central News. The story explains how they are making Laura’s retirement about more than ‘nothing to do,’ and how this retiree is always using her platform for good. This duo cannot keep themselves busy enough visiting library programs and daycare centers in the Syracuse area.
