PAWS of CNY Attends Student Pet Therapy Visit at SUNY Oswego

PAWS of CNY has had a busy spring, attending several student activities at our local colleges and universities. PAWS of CNY volunteers were pleased to have the opportunity to visit with students at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego’s Johnson Hall on Tuesday, May 5. Dianne Restuccio and her golden retriever Enzo attended the event.

PAWS of CNY Attends Bark in the Park

PAWS of CNY was proud to attend the Syracuse Chief’s Bark in the Park event at NBT Stadium on May 9. PAWS of CNY was one of several pet organizations that attended the event and had the opportunity to meet Chiefs fans and their dogs.

PAWS of CNY Attends Annual Wellness Week at Syracuse University

PAWS of CNY has been pleased to attend Wellness Week at Syracuse University for the past several years. To encourage students to take a much-deserved rest from the stress of finals week, the University coordinates a series of wellness-themed activities for students. This year’s event was held outside of Goldstein Student Center. PAWS of CNY has sent therapy dog representatives to the event for the past several years, and looks forward every year to the opportunity to support the University and its students during finals.

PAWS of CNY and SU Office of Disability De-Stress

PAWS of CNY was pleased to be invited to attend the Syracuse University Office of Disability’s de-stress event on April 7. PAWS of CNY’s therapy dogs have been influential this spring in offering students and faculty an opportunity to de-stress as the stress of the school year reaches its pinnacle during final exam season. Susan and John Stepien and their Bernese mountain dog Stella attended the event to help bring smiles to the office.

Are you interested in becoming a Pet Therapy volun Are you interested in becoming a Pet Therapy volunteer team with your pet? 🐕‍🦺 Our next Initial, Recertification, and Canine Good Citizen evaluations will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2026, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM! 🥳  There are still time slots available for your evaluation but before beginning the certification process, you must submit an application to PAWS of CNY. 🧑‍💻👩‍💻You can find all the forms and information on our website here https://pawsofcny.org/certification/. Please be sure to have electronic copies of proof of rabies vaccination and an annual health screening form(signed by your vet) including a negative fecal test within the last calendar year before you begin. If you have flown in or out of the Syracuse Hancoc If you have flown in or out of the Syracuse Hancock Airport, you may have seen one of our teams!PAWS of CNY partners with Syracuse Regional Airport Authority where 17 teams staff the SYR PET - Pets Easing Travelers program and spent 562 hours at SYR in 2025.  Nearly 130 hours have been spent in the first 4 months of 2026! These experienced volunteer teams have each have earned their Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification and logged at least 50 hours in a variety of pet therapy visits (e.g. long-term care facilities, college campuses, hospitals, schools, etc.) They also have to pass the Homeland Security screening.#airporttherapydogs #SRAA #happytravelers
