SUNY Oswego Students De-Stress with PAWS of CNY Therapy Dogs

Our local college students work so hard throughout the semester, that it is our privilege to help them de-stress and enjoy some well-deserved pet therapy. On Monday, November 30, volunteers from PAWS of CNY attended a de-stress event for students at the State University of New York at Oswego. PAWS of CNY volunteer Dianne Restuccio attended the event with her golden retriever and therapy dog, Enzo.

“I think Enzo likes attending de-stress events at college[s] due to the age of students,” said Restuccio. “He just sits there soaking up all the attention.”

Studies show that pets offer calming benefits. Just the process of petting a well-behaved, loving, and engaging animal can help to lower a person’s blood pressure, slow their heart rate to normal levels, and release positive endorphins.

“Students love to take photos of all the dogs and send messages to their friends and family,” said Restuccio. “The students miss their pets so when we show up, they enjoy hanging with all the dogs while sharing stories of their own pets. It’s a nice way to get their mind[s] off of stressful stuff at college.”

If you would like PAWS of CNY to attend your college or university de-stress event, contact us today.
