Soup Bone Foundation Makes Memorial Donation to PAWS of CNY

Soup Bone Tournament

The 4th Annual Soup Bone Golf Tournament was held on Sunday, September 27 at Millstone Golf Course in Elbridge. The event honors Florence Peters who was a dedicated PAWS of CNY (formerly Sunshine Friends, Inc.) volunteer. Flo was a special woman who loved dogs and was a committed member of our organization. Flo and her husband Jim started an annual golf tournament event several years ago, and the tournament now lives on in Flo’s memory.

This year’s events included the annual golf tournament, ball drop raffle, and soup lunch. Special thanks go out to Martina St. Leger, Susan Stepien and Stella, and Mary Jane Nathan and Moxie for selling ball drop raffle tickets.

This year the Soup Bone event started a new tradition by asking PAWS of CNY and Hospice of the Finger Lakes to each contribute a signature soup to the afternoon’s lunch. Guests were able to taste each submission and vote for their favorite entry. Thank you to Flo Anderson for preparing her signature New England clam chowder for this year’s event. Flo’s chowder and Hospice’s taco soup each earned an even number of votes and the two organizations were proud to share the winning prize with one another.

For the fourth year in a row, the Soup Bone Foundation has been kind enough to donate a portion of the event’s proceeds to both Hospice of the Finger Lakes, and PAWS of CNY. We are exceptionally greateful to Jim Peters and the Soup Bone committee for their ongoing support of our organization and their kind generosity.
