Airport Therapy Dog Helps Travelers

Ruth Schussler and her Therapy Dog, Koa have been changing lives and easing the anxiety of travelers at Syracuse Airport. If you are unfamiliar with our airport program SYR PET, you will be pleased to find out that we currently have six dogs along with their humans visiting Syracuse Airport regularly to help ease people while they are away from their families and traveling. As you know, traveling in an airport can be an especially stressful task and just taking a minute to do something like petting a cute dog can truly help calm you down or even just kill the time. If you haven’t seen our Therapy Dogs at the airport yet, keep your eyes peeled – you don’t want to miss them!

June 7th is National Cancer Survivor Day! We're so June 7th is National Cancer Survivor Day! We're so grateful for our amazing volunteers! In 2025 the PAWS of CNY Hospital Program's 17 volunteer teams logged, collectively, over 250 hours at partnering hospitals and medical sites including cancer treatment centers. These PAWS teams have brightened the days of children, teens and adults, in addition to family members and staff, at hospital settings from Oswego to Syracuse and beyond! Before qualifying to make hospital visits, each volunteer team logs at least 40 hours of other therapy visits, and those teams visiting Golisano Children's Hospital have 20 hours of those logged therapy visits at child-related activities such as after-school programs or library reading programs. If your hospital or medical facility would like to include pet therapy, visit www.pawsofcny.org for more information or to submit a request! #CancerSurvivorDay #PetTherapy #HealingWithPets
