PAWS of CNY’s therapy dogs are the real stars of our program. Walk through the halls with one of our therapy dogs in one of the many hospitals, nursing homes, or schools where our dogs regularly frequent, or even the Syracuse Hancock International airport, and you’ll hear patients, residents, travelers, and visitors greet the dogs by name. Often, those we interact with want a token to remember their new friend or a photo to share with friends and family. To give our new friends something to remember us, this year, PAWS of CNY created therapy dog trading cards for distribution at pet therapy visits and events.
The Therapy Dog Photo Shoot
To create the trading cards, we needed consistent, beautiful, professional pet photography. Thanks to the efforts of former PAWS of CNY volunteer Jen Gordon, we were able to stage a photo shoot at Paige’s Butterfly Garden at Onondaga Lake Park. Each dog then had the opportunity to pose for his/her glamorous photo shoot!
Customizing The Trading Cards
Thanks to input from each of the dogs’ handlers, each trading card was customized with information about the dog’s favorite treat, activity, their name, age, breed, and therapy dog accomplishments.
Printing and Production
Morrow Graphics beautifully printed and collated each card based on our volunteers’ orders.
Success
The trading cards have been a huge hit with kids, college students, patients, residents, and travelers, with many in our community hoping to collect a full set of PAWS of CNY pet therapy trading cards!
