East_Syracuse-Therapy_Dog_Reading_Partners_Ellie_Banner

PAWS of CNY is pleased to participate in the Human Library event at Liverpool Public Library. Therapy dog Ellie, and her mom Peggy will be available during the event on Monday, April 10 from 6 – 8 p.m. If you’re interested in learning about PAWS of CNY, and what it takes to certify your dog or cat for pet therapy, this is your chance.

This unique event gives patrons the chance to reserve 25-minute conversations with people that have a unique life experience to share.

Book an appointment at the library website at LPL.org or by calling 315-457-0301 ext 130 with the following individuals:

Why We March & More: Peaceful Activism Today – Meet with individuals who marched in the Women’s March and other marches. Hear their first-hand accounts and the avenues they continue to take as peaceful protesters.

Standing Among the Pharaohs – meet with Len Sharp to hear about his experiences in Egypt including adventures inside the Great Pyramids. Or discuss Len’s discoveries on Easter Island, or in Pompeii, Akrotiri or St. Pierre – three cities buried by cataclysmic volcanic eruptions. You choose!

An Armchair Adventure & Guide to the (not so) Secret Places We Create & Visit Nightly: – Dream studies practitioner Dream studies practitioner Mary Beth Bronk discusses her research on how to explore dreams including types of dreams, dream sharing and ideas for gaining deeper insights into our dreams .

Retune Your Body!: Quintessence Vibration Sound Healing – find out more about how Vibrational Medicine can “restore health to the body, clarity to the mind and atunement to the spirit” – Terry Friedman. Presented by the Awakening Consciousness Fellowship

Unreal Adventures of an Earth Scientist!: Digging up dinosaurs, living with Cheetahs in Namibia and becoming a Moon Ambassador, Drew Calderwood shares his first-hand accounts of all these exciting adventures!

Memories in a Suitcase: A Journey of the Unknown
What is it like to leave your home country that is at war, and travel to a new home? What are the cultural challenges? What is the process from more than two years of vetting through arriving in Syracuse? Meet with refugees who have made the journey. Cosponsored by InterFaithworks of CNY.

Volunteering with Your Pet
Talk to a member of PAWS of CNY on how to get involved with pet therapy. Therapy dogs provide affection and comfort to people in area hospitals and nursing homes. They help children improve their reading skills, and they de-stress college students and anxious travelers. Discover the many benefits of volunteering with your furry friend, and how they also benefit from having a job.

Book titles and appointment times will be added regularly. Reserve a time with a human book. Books will be available also for walk-in readings dependent on availability.

This program is part of a county-wide collaboration with events taking place at other libraries during the month of April.

Reserve your book here!
