College students are often very stressed around exam time. On October 16, PAWS of CNY volunteers visited Syracuse University students for a de-stress event during their mid-term exams.
The PAWS of CNY pet therapy volunteers that attended the event included Lisa Garofalo and her Yellow Labrador Dutch, Karin Laskowski and he Golden Retriever Piper, Peggy Byrne and her Golden Retriever Ellie, Allison Bene and her Pit Bill Mix Router, Sue Stepien and her Bernese Mountain Dog Stella, and Martina St. Leger and her Labrador/Hound Mix Dory.
The students were very excited to see the dogs. They spoke about how the dogs helped their stress level, how much they missed their own dogs, and how helpful PAWS of CNY’s regular pet therapy visits are to them throughout the year.
Student in attendance hailed from all over the world: China, Nigeria, Los Angeles, Bolder Colorado, New Hampshire, New York City, and Virginia. The students shared wonderful dog stories and stories of home and what they love about Syracuse University and Syracuse. They also commented on how happy, kind and well behaved the dogs were and asked when we were coming back. Lisa’s dog Dutch was wearing his Syracuse University jersey and was a big hit with the students showing off his SU pride!
