On May 1, Syracuse University’s Flint residence hall held a de-stress event for students to encourage them to take a well-deserved break from the rigors of studying.
PAWS of CNY volunteers that attended the event included Peggy Byrne and her Golden Retriever, Ellie, Etsuko Campbell and her King Charles Cavilier Spaniel Allie, and Kevin Campbell and his Leonberger, Chase.
Approximately 50-60 students visited with the therapy dogs during the event. The students took the opportunity to learn about pet therapy, asking such common questions as, how old are the dogs? What breed? How does your dog become a therapy dog? Do you have to train the dog differently than you would a regular dog? How can you get a service dog for anxiety?
If you are interested in learning the answers to these and other common pet therapy questions, or if you’d like to have PAWS of CNY attend a de-stress event at your residence hall, contact us today.
