PAWS of CNY Volunteers and their pets recently attended a Wellness Day at Westhill High School. The volunteers that attended were Martina St. Leger and Dory, Peggy Byrne and Ellie and Beth Tollar and Cooper. Wellness Day was focused on natural highs and stress reduction.
The volunteers did a presentation on the physical, mental and education benefits of pet therapy. The presentation focused on the calming effect the therapy dogs have on the people they visit and how they help reduce stress. Our therapy dogs volunteer at nursing homes, hospitals, schools, colleges and libraries. The students were very interested and asked lots of questions. The volunteers were there for a half day and they had a steady stream of students visit them during that time.
The students loved interacting with the dogs most of all!
