On Monday, December 7, Students at Syracuse University celebrated the success of the launch of the What the Health Magazine – a student run publication focusing on fitness, nutrition and wellness for Syracuse University students. To help them celebrate and de-stess after months of hard work, the students invited representatives from PAWS of CNY for some much needed pet therapy.
PAWS of CNY volunteer Audrey Sauer attended the event with her Great Dane, Cooper.
“Cooper warmed up quickly and enjoyed the attention of the students,” said Sauer. “He was featured in many ‘selfies’ with the kids. He fell asleep stretched out on the floor with all the kids petting him.”
PAWS of CNY’s student de-stress program has grown in size over the past three years from a small number of events to dozens of requests throughout the year. Having an opportunity to bring hard-working students the comfort of a warm, and loving animal is a rewarding experience for PAWS of CNY’s volunteers.
“Pets are a great stress reliever,” said Sauer. “I think the best way to wind down is to spend some time with a pet. I enjoy sharing Cooper with others who cannot have a pet for whatever reason. It’s also fun to meet other people who like dogs as much as I do!”
