On Tuesday July 28, Flo Anderson and her Shi Tzu Brutus, and Jessica Marabella from PAWS of CNY attended the Roxboro Elementary School’s Summer Fun Camp to share with the students information about PAWS of CNY’s therapy dog program.
The students were eager to learn what it takes to be a PAWS of CNY therapy dog, and how pet assisted wellness services can benefit adults and children in various ways. Brutus also demonstrated for the children the behavior and temperament skills required to be a therapy dog. The students were engaged in the discussion, asking questions about therapy dog criteria and telling stories of their own dogs and cats and how their own pets make them laugh and feel better when they’re having a bad day.
PAWS of CNY provides educational programing to students of all ages, helping them to understand the benefits of pet therapy and encouraging them to learn about pet safety and responsible pet ownership.
