On Saturday May 17, PAWS of CNY volunteer teams attended the “Get Pet-Riotic” event, a community outreach and information event co-sponsored by Recycle-a-Bull Bully Breed Rescue and Wanderer’s Rest Humane Association. The event promoted the adoption of dogs and cats looking for loving homes. PAWS of CNY was pleased to support the event and share information with the community about our Pet Assisted Wellness Services.
“It’s important for PAWS of CNY to support this adoption event since some of our therapy dogs are rescues,” said volunteer Sue Visconti who attended the event with her jack russell terrier mix, Chloe. “Chloe was rescued from a shelter in Asheville, North Carolina, a gift from my son.” The event offered an engaging opportunity for members of the community to learn about the pet therapy services that PAWS of CNY offers, and how all those involved can benefit from interacting with therapy dogs.
“It’s not only the ill person who reaps the benefits,” advised Visconti. “Family members and friends who sit-in on animal visits say they feel better, too. Even workers at the facilities are happy to see the dogs, and look forward to their visits. And so do I!”
